Record of Merit (ROM) Rules

The Record of Merit program is a means to recognize excellence in members who are showing their dogs in any ASCA program.

To be eligible for ROM awards, the owner(s) of the dog must be a member of HONYASC (juniors participating in this program must themselves be members of HONYASC). Only points earned in HONYASC conformation and obedience events will count toward the ROM award, and points will be calculated automatically. Because HONYASC does not regularly offer herding and agility events, points from events sponsored by any ASCA club will be accepted as long as details are recorded on the ROM form. In the case of tying scores for each category, each dog will receive a ROM award.

Conformation

The top dog in each category will get a ROM award. 1 point is earned for each dog defeated in the highest level of competition achieved that day by that dog (total # of dogs defeated minus 1, since the winning dog can't defeat him/herself), plus one point for simply entering and competing. For example, if a dog wins the class and there were a total of 6 dogs in the class, the dog would earn 6 points. A dog entering but not placing would earn 1 point for the attempt. Dogs winning Best of Winner's counts the number of dogs and bitches (combined) defeated. If the dog won Best of Breed, 1 point would be earned for all dogs defeated (# of dogs/bitches entered in the regular classes plus any specials entered minus 1).

3 additional points will be earned for Winners Dog/Bitch
4 additional points will be earned for Best of Winners
5 additional points will be earned for Best of Breed/Best Opposite Sex
3 additional points will be earned forBest of Breed Puppy
2 additional points will be earned forBest of Opposite Sex Puppy
